I recently pulled my vanning out of hibernation with the intent to tear it down just to clean it, rebuild it, and run it. The reason it was 'shelved' is because I melted the clutch bearing and never fixed it due to failure to lubricate it. Although it was started a couple times it was virtually never run. I'd like to find Kyosho parts bag CB-28 that contains the clutch shoes, springs liner and stuff. Here is a pic I found of it I already have a new bearing and the bell is just fine. I have been reading the boards this past week. I'm also wondering if people have modified or upgraded the clutch/bearing assembly and how they hold up over time. Such as- is there a sealed bearing that is better to use in place of the plastic roller bearing? Is the clutch liner a standard type that is used in many different models and something that is replaced occasionally? I am interested in hearing any clutch anecdotes if anyone has any to share.

I chose to go with the kc45 carbon clutch from the inferno- part (#KYO97014). No modifications were necessary to the stock flywheel, clutch bell, or pilot shaft. It is a 2 shoe doughnut style with a spring that wraps around the center of the circumference. The fit is perfect, snaps right in. I'm may get the optional soft springs in case I need them for fine tuning. It will still be at least a week until I test my Vanning out, maybe two. I want to make sure everything is perfect. I will update this thread as events pan-out. www.ebay.com/itm/290614329168?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

Nice to know that there is an alternative to the original clutch. Mine (brand new) is binding a lot, so i think it won't be able to idle with the wheels on the ground. I hope it will get better with some run time on the car.

Check this out....I noticed this after I posted. I found this folded up in my OS Engine box (.21 VF-BRabc) It is a supplemental instructions for the Vanning/Presto. It was in the original Vanning box when I opened it way back when(86-87?). It clearly states the KC45 carbon as an optional/upgrade clutch for the Vanning. It took me a lot of digging around to find out that it was right there under my nose the whole time. I will upload the supplemental instructions page below and supply a direct link to the image. oi44.tinypic.com/3500ahf.jpgAttachments:

I had a chance to start breaking it in over the past couple days. It rips. The KC45 carbon clutch works great. It comes with the hard spring (H) and includes an extra one. I purchased the soft spring(S) pack of 4 but I'm pretty sure the hard one is perfect. The tiny little bottom aluminum tube on the muffler popped out somewhere in the front yard, too, rubber piece still in place. I will crazy glue a new one in to the rubber, or the old one if I find it.
One problem I'm having is with a couple of the suspension arm shafts keep creeping out after a few minutes of ripping around the yard. The set screws just are not keeping them in place. I found an extra stop collar with s aet screw to fit on one shaft but I'm going to need at least one more.
Also, my old fuel tank bushings were dried out and I had to replace them with the closest thing that I could find, HPI with a little silicone around the edges. Not a perfect fit but I'm working on it. Very exciting for me just to get this thing going that has just been sitting quietly in hibernation forever.
